Weak hands with long suits play in the long suit. I learned it in Cardiff 1996 :D

At least 3, of course. Must shut out the heart suit.

If you can't bid 3 or 4 because that's a fit bid or splinter, then bid 5 I guess.

KQJ983? (Is this abuse of the system?)

5 and I would love it even more if I were playing a limited opening system.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

(Would bid it otherwise)

jumps to game in a suit you can still hold extreme length in should not be anything other than natural (except 1S p 4H maybe and that ones debatable).

There's no law against playing fit-jumps in competition. :)

(And didn't we agree that the KQJ5 notation just confused people, when we had a thread about it? I was expecting the standard "1S or 2H in response to 1H, with a weak hand and a good 4-card spade suit" question...)

Yeah, but when fit-jumping you need a 4th trump. If partner has a few small s and opps start leading this suit from the top, you lose control completely with only 3 trumps.

KQJ983 for me

Who knows Nuno. Whatever it is a silly notation. This is the person who criticised s/t for singleton. roflmao.

5D for me by the way.
