Scoring: MP

p 1 3 p
p X p p p
J led, Q

If partner has Jx of s, winning and returning a will let declarer pitch a loser. If J is stiff, there're lay-outs where ducking could cost.

Annoying guess. I try a small spade T1. Odds are that partner has a doubleton, and if so it rates to be bad to allow declarer to play a third spade for a discard.
