If partner has Jx of ♠s, winning and returning a ♠ will let declarer pitch a loser. If ♠J is stiff, there're lay-outs where ducking could cost.
Seeking input from anyone who doesn't frequently "wtp", "Lol" or post to merely "Agree with ..."

Annoying guess. I try a small spade T1. Odds are that partner has a doubleton, and if so it rates to be bad to allow declarer to play a third spade for a discard.
