4NT = Blackwood

Over 3M preempt:
4M! = minors ( what else can it be ? )
4C! = Clubs and the other Major
4D! = Diams and the other Major
4oM = to play
5m = to play
DBL = cards ( T/O )

Yeh. 4m natural seems like the best thing to give up. Gotta pay off somewhere.

I see it as giving up 4m natural to gain M/m two suiters and m/m two suiters and giving up a cue which would leave the minor unknown (if M/m) in case of further competition.

4N blackwood not really a big deal, one way or the other.

if 4m is natural, 4M is M+m. You give up 4m natural to gain 4NT blackwood and M+m where you know the minor right away.

This has been discussed on the forums before iirc.

Of course if you can show the M+m then you are in far better shape when you get such a hand. So I think you are talking nonsense Jeremy, it is not a tradeoff blackwood vs showing a minor at all.

Having said that, I slightly prefer 4m natural and would never play 4NT natural. And I agree that this has been discussed many times.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Does anyone play NLM over 3S but not over 3H - because you can bid 4H Michael's and still play in 4S?

Yes, I once agreed to that. I think it was because I wanted to play NLM and my partner didn't.
