Scoring: MP

1D-3N;

T1: low spade to the T and Q
T2: Q of diamonds, taken
T3-4: T of spades ducked and spade taken
T5: low club to the K taken
T6: low heart return, declarer claims saying 'i can discard a club on the heart if clubs are 4-1'

Is this claim proper?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Yes. What is the dispute? Clubs are even breaking.

He has 11 tricks on top with the club break but has lost 3: giving him ten seems fair enough! ;) Yes, there is little doubt he has not thought it through correctly or has miscounted or something, but so what? He is definitely making the rest of the tricks.

Most people I know would, at this point in the play, simply face their cards and say "ten tricks". And this would not be considered "curt".

I actually appreciate declarers like this. He made an obvious claim and it was, to the card, made as soon as it was valid (he had to wait and see if east would have a spade to take or not). What I don't appreciate is anyone who would contest this claim.

This was in the club, nobody challenged my claim but then again nobody calls the director in this club (literally less than one director call a night at 10-15 tables). I was just wondering. Sorry for taking up your time.

The 10 was played in trick 1 and again in trick 3. I assume second time you meant J. I cannot see any problem with that claim.

At the time of his claim he has 3 clubs, 3 hearts, 2 spades and three diamonds. 3+3+2+3=11 not only in the Wirral but in several other places as well.

It would be interesting to hear why the op thinks the claim might not be valid. Although I am not known for taking the milk and honey approach to those who claim badly this particular one seems fine and I can't see any reason to contest it.

Me too.

I try to emulate this attitude at the table to make it crystal clear that I am not relying on a club split that I do not need.
