As for Phil's question, I might speculate that being exposed to less solar magnetic activity means starting out with a cooler, cloudier and more stormy beginning (if the OP is to be accepted). More cosmic rays bombarding us so we develop accordingly. Surprising that we (of the low numbers) are not more like the Fantastic Four......or are we?????
