A system I play has these minor openings:

in 1/2 NV: 1C 5+ clubs or 13-16 bal, 1D 5+ diamonds or 17-19 bal
otherwise 1C 5+ clubs or 12-14 bal, 1D 5+ diamonds or 18-19 bal

Other than that, pretty much just plain everyday 2/1.

Reading through the ABF system regulations, it seems my system is red, because of a possibly short diamond which hardly ever happens! Am I misunderstanding? It is almost 100% natural. It seems silly to classify this with submarine openings and transfer openings and and forcing pass systems etc. Assuming I am right that it is red, is there any way to appeal before playing in a tournament to the director to let you put a green or blue sticker on it? Otherwise some opponents will get freaked out and want to know how to defend against your scary red system before realising it's even greener than their blue strong club system.

If 'bal' includes 4441 then you are sometimes going to be opening 1♣ or 1♦ with a singleton. Other than that I agree it seems pretty harmless. But I would not expect a director to authorise putting a different sticker on it. The opponents should get to decide for themselves whether the low frequency etc. mean they don't need any special countermeasures.

It's red, nothing will change that. Polish Club is red as well. MOSCITO is too. However this is not classified together with forcing pass (which is yellow).

Basically there's nothing wrong with red systems, mostly they're diversions of green and blue systems. The diversions can go very far like MOSCITO, while Polish Club is pretty natural imo.

What good does it make to ask TD if you can change the colour code? Personally I don't think people look at the colour anyway, they look at the system description and if they see your minor suit openings, weither the system is green or red, they'll still freak out even though that's pathetic...

For open WBF events you often have to pre-submit your convention card if the system is classified red, but not if it is green.

Unfortunately the classification can be hard to assess and they respond slowly to requests for help. I await the response to my question whether 2/1, where 1♣ is natural or balanced, non-forcing (but would be opened with any 5332) is red or green.
