At a BBO tournament, South lists himself as "World Class", North as "Expert". Playing standard the auction goes.

1 - 2
3 - 4
4NT - 5NT
7NT

5NT alerted as 3 KC with queen

The hands were

Scoring: MP

Did this really happen? Lately I've been seeing some stuff that makes me think that some people have some way to see opponents hands. I was thinking along the lines of a program that let's you see through opponents cards when they should be hidden. I'm not even sure such a program is even possible, but who knows.

Obviously 5NT can only show 3KC with queen, if the trumps where or .

Since South is thinking that 3 set trumps to , to South the 3 keycards can only be A, A and K and the Q must be nonsense.

7NT is probably a try to punish North for lunatic bidding.

If multiple selections where possible I would select:
Don't you have anything better to do?
What an idiot!
He just got lucky

and I would like the unavailable option:
What an idiot! (North)

(Might as well try to squeeze this in before the thread gets shut down)

If the stiff King of Hearts is sitting with West, then the Heart King is sitting over South.

How did the hearts get played?

Then I'll make Ed's day by throwing in a Heinlein quote:

There is actually a fascinating discussion of different variants on thsi same theme at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlon's_razor

It appears south thought 4 was a cue-bid for hearts, so maybe he thought responder's impossible queen was extra heart length.

A couple issues here.

First, to Hanoi5, many tournaments allow kibitzing, an if a kibitzer is sharing info with one of the players, they see --essentially all four hands. Other tourneys, like ACBL and all the "organizational" events block kibitzers.

Second, the alert of 5NT as three keycards plus the queen marks North as anything but an an expert. It seems to be that north thinks a minor is the trump suit (maybe clubs), but who uses such a response?

Third, if south thought his jump to 3 set hearts as trumps, then three plus the queen can be only as TimG suggest, showing 3 keycards (a, A, K) and enough hearts to be sure no third round loser in hearts (assuming north has at least 6 then 4 would be enough to show the heart queen even when not holding it).

I will say that one should NEVER use just one hand to reach a conclusion of cheating. Is this pair world class or even expert? I doubt it seriously. Is this a bidding misunderstanding or cheating? One hand, no possible way to tell. So I refuse to vote.
