You use the "web" version of bbo, i.e. you click "play bridge now" at www.bridgebase.com, right?

After having logged in, you click "Help me find a game". Then you have 3 options:

"Play- I have a partner". After you clicked that, you type the name of your partner, and you will be taken to a random table that needs a pair.

"Play - I want to find or start my own table". Here you can click "I want to start a new table", where you can start a new table and reserve e.g. the North and South chairs for you and your partner. This is useful if you also want to control which opponents you get, i.e. you don't want a random table. I prefer this option because the random tables will sometimes have players who are "sleeping".

"Play - Tournaments starting soon". Here you can chose one of the pairs tournaments and invite your partner to play in it with you.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket
