all non vuln pard dealer -and opens 1 diamond, next hand passes/ bbo pick up game.
You hold A1054--AK95--void--AQ984 nice hand
does one bid 1 major--or 2cl/3 cl next hand passes,assume 3cl is not a W/J shift,i chose 2cl--------------any advice-purposefully have not given pards hand,until i get some comments regards

You do have a nice hand. It's highly likely that you have a grand. So look for it as intelligently as possible. 2♣ is the most descriptive bid and will lead to the most intelligent auction. So 100% 2♣.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Hi,
if you have the strength to bid both suits, bid the suits in
their natural order, i.e. bid the longer one first.
Your plan is to bid clubs and in the next round to bid
spades, unless you discovered a fit.
Jumping around is never a good idea playing with an unknown
partner, nobody knows, what he would take the jump for, so
try to avoid the jump.
With kind regards
Marlowe

When your hand is good enough to show your suits in the natural order (longest first), you should do so, since by bidding 1♥ first you wouldn't be able to show five clubs without also showing five hearts.
3♣ would show either a single-suited hand with clubs, or clubs + diamonds.
So 2♣ it is.

agree so far but when i bid 2cl my partner seemed to be thinking and passed
his hand was 62--J62--J1098765--6 when opening lead came of a club
a good lead from opp and i struggled to make 2cl--the only lead to hold me to my contract
why do persons distort this game 1d????????????? regards

Your partner obviously misclicked and intended to open 3♦ and then panicked and passed a forcing bid - bad luck, your bidding was fine
It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

Your pick up partner either psyched or is an idiot..I'd find out which and as seems likely, with idiot being the case, move on to another table.
You deserve to play good bridge and not garbage.
And yeah...start with 2♣ over 1♦ like everyone else says.
