Are you not worried about missing game Helene?

Possible system options are:

2C = GF
2NT = GF raise
3H = limit raise
3S = any minimal splinter
4D = strong diamond splinter
4H = preemptive
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

2c would be especially nice if the subsequent 4h call were a picture jump.

Why? (It would be.)

I'm amazed that two people so far are willing to play below game level. How can a limit raise be sensible when partner has no clue what you have?

I suppose you're right, Han. If we are not forcing to game we need to make sure that p makes an informed choice if he passes 3. OTOH if we do force to game we may come too high. And we can't splinter in diamonds and spades at the same time.

4.

The chances that this can be made are good.

I would bid 4 when playing standard splinters and 4 given the options above.

Playing these methods, I would bid any minimal splinter then show the cheapest one bidding wise. I don't think there is any good solution for this hand (except for a fit jump). Of course, the fit jump doesn't solve all the problems and the hand is pretty rare.

That doesn't bother me too much on this hand; I'd bid 4 and be happy to have a splintering alternative to the stiff queen.

Playing the methods outlined in Han's post, I'd bid 3.

I like 2C =GF. My hand should produce 4 tricks by ruffs or by long clubs. Partner needs to know C-fit needed for up-try. Fast arrival 4H next.

No fit showing jumps? :-)

In the absence of FSJ, I bid 4.

Wow must be great hand lots of different responses.

I thought 3h was just fine if opener does not open sound but thought 3s would be the default bid and that is ok.........

All these 4h and 2c bids really surprise me.
