With both my regular partners I play that a direct bid is forcing, and a non-forcing bid is made via a Lebensohl type 2NT (transfer to 3♣ for overcaller to bid the non-forcing suit). I thought this was pretty normal.
It is so far from normal that I have never even heard of it, and I have played a lot of bridge and read even more.
Just how often does this tool come up, where your overcall is forcing on a potentially misfitting, pointless hand opposite (please don't answer.. the question was rhetorical)? You'd need a 2♣ opening for this to make sense, so it isn't happening very often, and in the meantime you give up on the more normal meaning of a 2N bid. I doubt that your treatment will ever become remotely close to normal.
