Assuming standard bidding, what kind of hand should be held in the passout seat for the following sequence: 1, P, P, 2? I think about 11-15 hcp and 6 good . Do you agree, or do you have another view?

If as I suggest, then what kind of hand is held in the passout seat in this sequence: 1, P,P, 1, 1NT, DBL, P, 2? Comments?

<_< Thanks, Oldman5757

So far so good.

This auction should show something like a good Weak Two in . Because of the danger of the opponents suddenly bidding 4, the overcall probably has tolerance:

Time to liven up this B/I forum again as it seems to have had little action lately.

I have always balanced differently than what Gerben shows here and in my partnerships a jump balance to 2 would show a 6+ card suit or a superb 5 carder and 13+ to about 17 HCP.

Here's some decent and reasonably standard (for me) guidelines on balancing.

Also when I balance over 1 with a decent hand, I am not terribly concerned about the opps bidding and making game, noting that responder passed 1 initially.
