RHO deals and passes. What do you open?

A good hand for a change. Partner doesn't need much opposite this hand to make a game, but what is the best way of getting there? Either opening 1H intending on reversing into spades (but may of course leave you in 1H with a game cold) or deciding the hand is balanced and opening 2NT, which is about right on strength but may lead to missing a superior major suit game/slam.

Clear 1♥ in my view. I have an easy rebid and I'm not worried at all about it going all pass and missing something.

Same theme as hand 5. You open low and bid slow.
You only open 2c or something if you are afraid your partnership will get confused if you reverse.

One heart. If we were in first seat we could reasonably expect partner to hold enough to respond, and RHO's pass makes it even likelier. Were we to start with 2♣, our imminent spade bid on the third round would crush the auction. Opening with 2NT is a fringe possibility that doesn't look attractive when we could be blown away in either of the minor suits. If we are left here in 1♥, game will be a heavy underdog at best. After partner's expected response of 1NT, we have a forcing reverse readily available to move the action along.

Playing a forcing NT, which I think
is part of BBO Advanced, makes this
bid less risky than playing a non forcing
1NT response, because partner will
bid with a fit with +3/4HCP.

Not sure what the point of this hand was: my response was: 1♥; wtp? Seriously, do you expect any (expert) votes for anything else? This should be (close to) unanimous.

Well, it may be unanimous now, but it wasn't unanimous when I did the poll. This hand was actually from a simultaneous pairs, and the expert analysis, if I recall correctly, advocated a 2NT opening.

Anyway, my personal feeling was that 1H was superior, and so gave it 100.

1H = 100
2NT = 50
2C = 20
1S = 10
