I was thinking that this hand:

AKxx
xx
AKx
Qxxx

So what do you do with this hand, then?

I would be completely happy to bid 3N with this hand over 1C-(3D)

Double seems right to me since I can handle his heart bids. 3NT over 3, 6 over 4. If my club support or my hand were worse I could see your point since it would be difficult to handle a 4 bid.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I'll double and correct to spades. Bidding 3 directly gives me no chance to play 3 opposite a weak notrump, and might get partner too excited if he has extras. While the best contract opposite a minimum opening is likely to be 3, playing 4 may be better than defending 3.

Dbl and spades. This would be a tougher hand if we held the suit.
