I agree with opening with such prime values. And 1NT is not an option, 1 is correct. The right rebid however is 2NT. Partner will pass that and you will get 150 instead of 90.

Clear pass for me. We're not making game unless p has an opening hand, and this hand is much easier to respond with than open. I won't open light unless I have a 5 card suit, and a rebiddable suit opposite any response. And rebidding on a FOUR card suit is not my cup of tea. As people have said though, with more texture in the suits, it might be worth upgrading to a 2NT rebid in which case opening is ok. Though I'll still probably pass.
The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

Obvious 1 opener for me, any seat. Easy rebid if pard bids a major, and preempts opps out of their most likely fit, clubs. The only thing that can go wrong is PARD bidding 2 (as he did), but then you still have the contingency solution of 2 (which you used).

All in all, I think bidding was pretty good, although I might have chosen 1NT instead of 2on pard's hand.

If your agreement includes openings like that, your partner does not have a 2 response.

My agreements would include that hand, and partners hand would be a 1NT rebid. Leading to 1NT+2.

Pass for me, I hate 4441 hands, and would pass with 12 or 13 pts, unless very good 10s around.

Don't like your P's 2C bid, but as an Acol player, I'd have a dilemma how to respond.

To bid or not to bid depends on the sytem you play. Eg If you open 1 playing Acol 12-14 no trump, then North cannot comfortably respond 1nt with 10 points or even a good 9 and will have to respond 2. otoh playing 15-17 nt where no trump rebids show 12-14, partner can safely respond 1nt with 10 points and 2 with 11 upwards. (or 2nt playing 2/1 with 11ish) If you play 4 card majors and open 1 and partner responds 2, I think it is a distortion to rebid 2 which I would rely on being at least 5-4.

In short: no bid playing Acol, and 1 playing a 15-17 standard 5 card major system.

btw Playing 12-14 no trump and 4441 and in range with singleton A or K clubs I would open 1NT.
