Just saw these numbers:

Last 4 years USA gasoline consumption is up 5%
Prices are up a bit over 100%.

We whine and whine and use even more Gas.....

I still predict consumption will continue to rise until 5 bucks a gallon in today's prices.

$5 per gallon? That sounds pretty cheap

Oh well, saves us being taxed in some other way. Not that I pay any other form of tax right now...

We pay some E 1.20 per liter (6 bugs a gallon) and we actually use less gas than Americans do. But this is due to a number of factors. I don't think gas prices are a major issue - the real cost of driving is the value of the time you waste behind the stearwheel. Some economists argue that E3 per liter would be adequate to compensate for the costs that driving put on society (polution, policing, accidents, land usage for roads, road maintanance, noise). But there are other taxes on car driving than gas taxes, plus insurance costs, so it probably allready adds up to something like E3 per liter.

Well then don't whine and start using less. Still it's SO cheap in the US to drive a car :)

I would introduce a special BBO forum gas tax for all who pay for gas less then $5 per gallon and who complain for gas prices... :)

3€ per litre still sounds pretty cheap to me. I could still afford that.

Would definitely drive less, though. And would buy an hybrid vehicle.
