I have not posted much and will not be posting much. I am relocating to Thailand in February, probably permanently. If I go to Bangkok I may try to make the Thai national team, but this is unlikely as I will probably live in the provinces.

No doubt Cherdano will be happy as he cannot stand reality and truthfulness in posts and appears to suffer fools gladly, which I do not.

Bye all, apart from random periodic postings.

Good luck in Thailand!
Thanks for the good stuff in your posts(*), your charming friendliness to newcomers, and helping us to see the light of reality and truth in bridge.

Ron,

C'mon. You can't leave us. I'm going to miss the Kaplan-esque feel of your posts.

Now I'm bummed.

Interesting, you lived in australia where the world junior teams were, and then you moved to bangkok where the world junior teams are going to be :) Random coincedence...

Good luck.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was looking at an old thread regarding opening 1NT with a 5-card major. The only response I remember is Ron's, something like: "I see a growing trend to treat balanced hands as balanced hands".

I do hope you keep posting Ron. I have always appreciated your style of saying things exactly like you think they are, even in those threads where I thought that you were completely nuts.

Peter, after my marriage broke up in March, I was a wreck for a while. I needed a holiday and went over to Thailand in Sept and fell in love with the people, the country, the food and one person in particular. I am going over in Feb to do a TEFL - teaching Eng as a foreign language - course and then am going to get a job, hopefully teaching corporate anb business English. At this stage I am not sure of my exact location.

The course is in Phuket, but as Richard just posted, Chiang Mai appeals as does Udonthani. You can pick up a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house and a car there for about $75k AUD - ($62kUS). The pay is crap, but cost of iving is very low. If I do end up in Bkk, I will definitely be playing bridge.

OK. Ben, if I get a cable or satelite connection then you may hear a bit more from me.

All the best to you - but I hope there is no final missive from The Hog. Your contributions are as valued as your sense of humour ;-)
