1- To me this is auto pass.

2- I would pass myself, we are little short of values for playing 5 minor or playing 3 doubled or w/e else, otoh they seem to found a big fit and you did not tell us the scoring. I may be convinced otherwise after reading what others said. .

1. I have an Ace in defense and no suggestion 4H-X is not our best contract.
I've been in this situation before and gotten and missed our best score.
2. I'll double back to partner. He'll hope for 4xS, but knows I have stuff
without a clear idea of our best spot. I expect 1xH-ruff with my 3xtrumps
IF he goes 4S in addition to quacks in minors.

1. pass

2. between responsive X and pass, I choose the aggressive double.

I passed and we did do very well in 4X going -1. The other table was in 4 making.

I passed and my pd decided not to bid again.

In the first hand, you had been unlucky to lead a trump, so that you can just score 4 tricks.

At the same time, 4 Spade looks quite tricky after 3 Heart tricks. You have a sure diamond loser and quite a problem to get enough finesses through west..
Kind Regards

Roland

looks like 4 maks after pitching the diamond on third heart.

I would double with the second hand but it is quite close.

You ruff 3rd with Q. Play to the Ace, 10, another , AKQ, ruff , and he is hopeless

Kx 1, your hand A Kx, dummy 1 2. :)

I am really having hard time to understand the point here.

Hand 2 is close but hey, pd has 19 hcp and he has no reason to believe that i am broke when 1 of them opened and other only preempted.

Hand 1 reminds me the type of hands where pd opens 1NT and i have a flat 13, which i bid 3NT (wthout an 8 card M fit), and it goes down 2 with ourside holding 30 hcp. So what ? I will still keep on bidding game each time i have such a hand. I said i am having hard time to understand the point of these hands because they are in expert forum instead of "interesting hands" forum.

Imho, what decided the outcome of these boards was not because what you decided to bid at this table, but because what your teammates did not bid at the other table. Are you telling us that your opponent in your seat faced the same problem when they bid 4 ? Really ? Your teammates opened 4 and the guy bid 4 over double with 4333 ?
